Ben has over 10 years of private and sports physiotherapy experience. He prides himself on his clinical knowledge of sports injuries, tendon injuries, joint injuries and dysfunctions, orthopaedic surgical rehabilitation and the treatment of back and neck pain.
Ben directed a busy clinic in the heart of the business district in Singapore for over 7 years, and has worked as a medical educator for World Rugby. He worked as a pitch side physiotherapist with professional rugby clubs and in elite rugby tournaments, including the HSBC 7s World Series, as well as being the lead physiotherapist for the Singapore Wanderers Rugby Club. He subsequently became part of the medical team for the Sunwolves Rugby Club when playing their Singapore Super Rugby fixtures. Ben has also worked with a professional tennis player and a professional mixed martial arts athlete, helping them to return to elite levels of sport following injury. All of this experience has enhanced Ben’s assessment and diagnostic skills in high-pressure situations, making his assessments clear and efficient.
Ben also has a background in clinical Pilates (STOTT Pilates, Mat and multiple Pilates based rehab qualifications), which he uses in his rehab programs. He has also trained in medical acupuncture and dry needling in New Zealand, Australia and Singapore. He uses this, as well as hands-on techniques in conjunction with other modalities of treatment, to help relieve stress and pain. Ben has continued his education through regular reading of the latest research as well as regular attendance at courses with the leaders in the field. He has recently finished his British Hand Association level 1. Ben also specialises in foot pain, and is the co-founder of the Plantar Pad (plantar physio.com) giving international webinars on the treatment of plantar fasciitis.
In clinic, Ben makes sure he really gets to know each of his patients and understands their needs and goals; from pain relief, regaining function in every day life to getting back to sport. He has vast experience treating persistent back and neck pain. Guided by current research, he educates his patients on the influencing factors of their pain, cutting through the myths, bad advice and medical jargon. Ben aims to empower his patients to manage their condition actively-helping them to tap into their full potential and feel confident in everyday function as soon as possible. Above all, Ben works with each patient to help to fulfil the individual’s needs and achieve their goals
