Hi there,
My name is Sydney, I am an Integrative Counsellor.
I understand how daunting the decision can be to seek counselling. Life and our experience of it can be incredibly complex and full of inconsistencies, but I believe through honest and non-biased communication, we can understand better and reduce the emotional pain associated with whatever we are struggling with. This will be a challenging process at times, but the benefits can be life-changing.
I understand how unique you are therefore I use a variety of approaches tailored to your specific requirements – no one formula fits all. Most importantly I offer a warm and empathic space for you to confidentially explore what you are going through. I work in a way which allows you to lead where the sessions go. It is important that you have autonomy over the content of your sessions and we go at a pace that suits you. You are the expert on your subjective experience. My role is to be a guide alongside you through the process.
I have over 400 hours of clinical experience working with a variety of clients aged 18+ dealing with stressors such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, bereavement and loss, abuse (sexual, verbal and physical), self-harm, addiction, OCD, trauma, childhood trauma, eating disorders, identity and personal development, family and relationship dynamics, parental difficulties, sexual, spiritual and cultural identity.
I offer a free 20-minute telephone call to allow you time to meet me and tell me about what you are seeking support with. It is important for you to feel that the choice of counsellor is yours and that you are allowed space in a non-committal way to discuss what you would like from your counselling and whether you feel you would like to continue to do so with me.
If you feel that you might like to speak with me, please feel free to contact me via telephone or email.
I am available for sessions at The Wellness Hub on Tuesday mornings and afternoons.
I volunteered for four years with Number 22 Community Counselling charity as a counsellor for their 18+ client list. They offer open-ended counselling to anyone seeking support in the community. I have over four years experience working with clients who have experienced domestic abuse, addiction, identity crisis (spiritual, sexual, personality, image), depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, poverty, unemployment, self-esteem, divorce and marital issues, family and parental dynamics. In particular, my client base has been young adults (18-25) and parents of young adults from a variety of different backgrounds giving me valuable experience with those experiencing difficulties in such important developmental times of life and parental relationships.
